| This is for those students who have never studied Spanish before or who have a very limited knowledge of the language. By the end of this level, students are able to use and understand frequently used expressions that enable them to give, and ask for, basic information about themselves and people they know, and to relate to others speaking in a simple manner. |
| For students who have some basic knowledge of Spanish. The completion of this stage enables the student awareness of some aspects of Spanish customs and to cope with everyday, practical situations in any Spanish speaking country, with simple exchanges of information about routines and habits. They will also be able to describe basic aspects of their past and deal with more immediate concerns. |
| On completion of this stage, the student will be able to understand and produce texts with information about themes familiar to themselves, relating past experiences, speaking about future actions and situations, explaining plans, expressing simple desires, and justifying opinions. They will be able to cope with situations which arise whilst travelling in a Spanish speaking country. |
| Develops the student’s capacity to make value judgements, express desires, develop hypotheses, give opinions and accurately pass on messages. The student will acquire a greater knowledge of various and diverse aspects of Hispanic culture and reality, enabling them to participate in conversations on these themes, defending a point of view with a degree of fluidity, even when relating to native Spanish speakers. |
| This stage seeks to strengthen the knowledge gained in the previous stages, ultimately developing a flexible and effective use of Spanish in social, academic and professional situations, enabling comprehension of more demanding texts and also producing them with a certain complexity. In communication, the student will adapt their style of speaking to the demands of the situation, knowing how to effectively use the indicative-subjunctive to add depth and infection to their speech. |
| The study of Hispanic culture and civilization becomes the central axis around which the four major language skills are developed (oral expression, audio comprehension, written expression and written comprehension) and which opens the knowledge of the Spanish language as a distinct socio-cultural reality. The teaching method is based on both texts and their contexts, placing special emphasis on the amplification of communicative recourses and in fluidity, as well as on the interiorisation of the linguistic system. |
